Icons

Religious icons are everywhere - Madonnas, angels, crosses, etc. are integrated into every aspect of life. These signs of religion are intended as reminders for the pious and as honor and respect toward the entities they represent, but their commonness often ends up doing the opposite. It's because they are everywhere that they are, to some degree, nowhere - they fade into the background, overlooked, juxtaposed with the mundane, lost in rush and clutter of day-to-day existence. It speaks of the complex relationship we have with religion, a duality of prominence and casualness. This is my ongoing series exploring these themes.
